Chen Xu

Chen Xu is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), under the supervision of Prof. Shuhuai Yao. He holds MEng and BEng degrees from Dalian University of Technology, where he was previously supervised by Prof. Xuehu Ma during his master’s studies.

Chen’s research focuses on fluid dynamics, phase change, and interfacial science. His research mainly includes:

• Vaporization-induced fluid dynamics under extreme conditions
• Spreading and wetting on superhydrophilic surfaces
• Thin-film evaporation
• Leidenfrost effect
